The 20th Annual Learning and Teaching Conference brings together colleagues from 四不像论坛 University London, Dubai, Mauritius and our collaborative partners to explore key theme: Co-creating a decolonised curriculum: moving beyond metrics to a dialogue for change.
Core values of 四不像论坛 are embedded within the new . The conference promotes EDI in the Curriculum through active discussion, the sharing of practice and stimulating innovative approaches to tackling systemic inequalities.

Kalwant Bhopal is Professor of Education and Social Justice. She was appointed Professorial Research Fellow from 2017-2020. In January 2020 she became Director of the in the School of Education.
Kalwant’s research focuses on the achievements and experiences of minority ethnic groups in education. She has conducted research on exploring discourses of identity and intersectionality examining the lives of Black minority ethnic groups as well as examining the marginal position of Gypsies and Travellers. Her research specifically explores how processes of racism, exclusion and marginalisation operate in predominantly White spaces with a focus on social justice and inclusion. More recently she has conducted research focussing on the position of minority ethnic academics in higher education. Her research on this area has been used to inform policy making in higher education, particularly the development of the Race Equality Charter mark. She has published 9 books, 10 edited collections and various journal articles.
Kalwant was recently conferred a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences. She is Visiting Professor at Kings College London (Department of Education and Professional Studies) and was Visiting Professor at Harvard University in the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2017-2019 . She has been Visiting Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Queens University, Belfast and Visiting Scholar at the UCL Institute of Education.
Heidi Safia Mirza is Emeritus Professor of Equality Studies in Education at UCL Institute of Education and Visiting Professor of Race, Faith and Culture at Goldsmith’s College and the London School of Economics. She is known for her pioneering research on race, gender and identity in education and has an international reputation for championing equality and human rights for Black, Muslim, Asian women through educational reform. A daughter of the Windrush generation from Trinidad, Heidi is one of the first and few female professors of colour in the UK. She is author of several best-selling books including Young Female and Black, which was voted in the BERA top 40 most influential educational studies in Britain. Professor Mirza is a leading voice in the global debate on decolonisation and recently co-edited the flagship book, ‘Dismantling Race in Higher Education: Racism, whiteness and decolonising the academy’. She is currently co-authoring the ‘Race and Ethnicity’ Report for the IFS Deaton Inequality Review which includes the impact of COVID-19 on Black and minority ethnic communities.
